Overview
FMC600 is a fiber optic module carrier in an FMC+ form factor designed to meet the growing demands of high-bandwidth, low-latency applications. Supporting up to two Samtec Halo® PAM4 optical modules, each with up to eight bi-directional channels with a data throughput of up to 56Gbps/channel, The FMC600 can support up to two 448Gbps streams of aggregated data transfers with minimal latency over long distances. This massive fat pipe makes the FMC600 an ideal solution for the growing data demands from high-resolution wideband RF signals and AI datasets, including:
•Electronic Warfare (EW)
•Radar Systems
•Telecommunications
•AI-at-the-Edge
•High-Performance Computing (HPC)
Modular Design, Many Options
FMC600’s modular design allows system architects to select the optimal optical configuration for their application. It is also available with up to two field-proven Samtec FireFly™ optical modules, each with up to four bi-directional channels at 25Gbps/channel for a combined 100Gbps of aggregated data per module. This gives developers headroom to migrate from FireFly™ to Halo with minimal hardware changes as data throughput requirements evolve over time.
Designed to Open Standards, Including SOSA
FMC600 is mechanically and electrically compliant to the FMC standard (ANSI/VITA 57.4) and is designed to be used in a conduction-cooled system with optical I/O through the chassis backplane. It's SOSA aligned when mated to our FPGA UltraScale+ and Versal carriers such as our VP231, VP241, VP891 or VP892.
Built Tough
It is designed to be rugged for reliable performance in harsh operating environments and climates. Additionally, fiber optic transmission is inherently immune to noisy environments and allows for reliable high-bandwidth data transmission across long distances relative to copper lines, making it an ideal solution for real-time low-latency sensor-to-processing-sensor applications like EW.
