SBS Technologies Announces Two High Performance VMEbus Single Board Computers Using Intel® Pentium® M Processors

  • Intel® Pentium® M processor , 600 MHz to 1.6 GHz
  • Two Gigabit Ethernet ports 10/100/1000 BaseT front or rear panel optional
  • NVIDIA® Geforce™4 Go, 256-bit 3D and 2D graphics accelerator
  • VITA 31.1 compliant
  • Two PMC expansion slots for additional I/O capabilities
  • VR9 is an industry first VMEbus CPU board featuring the Intel Pentium M processor available with conduction cooling
  • VP9 offers dual slot implementation for extended front I/O functionality Albuquerque, NM (February 9, 2004) – Today SBS Technologies® (Nasdaq: SBSE), a leading provider of embedded computing technology, introduced two new high-performance 6U VMEbus single board computers (SBCs). Configured with different feature sets, the VP9 and VR9 deliver the speed and bandwidth needed for performance-oriented applications while benefiting from the low power consumption of the Intel® Pentium® M processor. "High performance embedded applications in both the commercial and government markets have ever growing demands for raw processing power, as well as stringent power requirements," said Adrian Bernhard, Managing Director, SBS Europe. "The 1.6 GHz Intel Pentium M processor is the foundation of these SBCs, which are enhanced through their I/O interfaces, communications capabilities, and graphics subsystems. These boards set a new benchmark for Intel processor based VMEbus products and offer the excellent performance to engineers requiring embedded systems processor boards." Each VME board is compliant to the VITA 31.1 specification. They both include the NVIDIA® Geforce™ 4 Go graphics accelerator providing VGA/LCD resolutions up to 2048x1536. Both boards offer two PMC interfaces, one high performance PMC slot (64-bit/66 MHz) and a second standard PMC slot (32-bit/33 MHz) for front or rear I/O. The EIDE interface supports Ultra ATA 100, which enhances HDD access for faster read and writes. The operating systems supported are Windows® 2000, Windows XP, QNX, VxWorks®, LynxOS®, Linux®, and others. VR9 The VR9 is the first VMEbus Intel Pentium M processor based single board computer with optional conduction cooling and a extended temperature range up to -40° to +65° C, increased shock and vibration immunity using stiffener bars, wedge locks, and conformal coating. The conduction cooled VR9 is compliant to ANSI/VITA 20-2001. The VR9 provides a unique feature set that offers a high level of functional integration. The VGA/TFT, Gigabit Ethernet and serial interfaces all within a single slot and the freedom to use the PMC interfaces makes this a highly-configurable robust solution for many rugged applications requiring a powerful VME computer. VP9 The VP9 has a dual-slot wide front panel that allows two PMCs and a hard disk or a Flash drive to be mounted in parallel. Versions of the front panel I/O are available in various configurations with and without PMC support. The VP9 is designed to meet the needs of embedded applications like automation, medical, scientific, imaging, telecommunication, transportation, and others. The VP9 is also available in an extended temperature version with an operating temperature range of -40º to +55º C. Pricing & Availability Both single board computers are available now and pricing is based on configuration. . Starting price for the VR9 is US $4700.00 and the VP9 is US $4500.00.
