SBS GreenSpring Modular I/O today announced the availability of IP-CAN -- the latest addition to the company's line of field bus interface IndustryPacks. IP-CAN implements the Controller Area Network (CAN) protocol using a Siemens C167 intelligent CAN controller. CAN, a broadcast-oriented communications protocol, offers a comprehensive solution to managing communication between controllers, sensors, actuators and human-machine interfaces in industrial environments. This highly configurable IndustryPack is designed with built-in memory for end-user firmware development. It is compatible with any CAN-based network, such as Honeywell's Smart Distributed System (SDS), SAE J1939 and proprietary CAN networks.

Features
IP-CAN is a single-wide Type II IndustryPack that offers complete CAN compatibility. It is an intelligent CAN device with a 20 MHz Siemens C167 microcontroller and 128 KB zero wait state SRAM, 128 KB Flash. It also offers a "bootstrap loader" mechanism to load and boot executable code via the C167's serial port.
