Charlottesville, VA, September 3, 2009 GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms, a unit of GE Enterprise Solutions, today announced the availability of the stand-alone version of its popular, high performance 0i-D CNC.The stand-alone version of the 0i-D, called the 0i-D SA, offers all the great features of the LCD mounted 0i-D but with the advantages of using a FANUC Panel I PC front-end.
“The 0i-D set a new standard for value and performance with features like nanometer interpolation as standard, a feature previously reserved for higher-priced CNC systems or as an expensive option in others,” said Paul Webster, CNC Product Manager for GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms. “The stand-alone version of the 0i-D adds open systems capability allowing users to easily add standard software packages to their machine tool or write custom applications and operator interface screens for the 0i-D SA.”
The 0i-D SA adds a PC front-end operators interface to the 0i-D – allowing for standard Microsoft Windows® applications and custom applications to be written for the 0i-D series of CNC.
“The 0i-D SA allows for an open systems PC front end to be used in a very economical package,” continued Webster. “The 0i-D already provides superior performance and low cost, and the new stand-alone version adds the flexibility of a FANUC Panel I PC front-end. This latest offering rounds out the complete ‘Next Generation’ CNC platform from GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms – from the top performing 30i to the high cost-performance 0i-D, each CNC system can now be ordered with a PC operator interface.”
The 0i-D comes with many programming and operation features already packaged into the system so there is no need for ordering special options. It enables high-speed and high-precision machining using nano interpolations with AI contour control being optional. Integrated operation and program guidance is available with FANUC Manual Guide I, and Embedded Ethernet provides easy connectivity. The folder based program structure features easy interface and more memory than its predecessor. The CNC is fully customizable using FANUC Picture software. The 0i-D is also NCGuide compatible for easy development and training.
This value-oriented CNC is available with the all-in-one BiSVSP spindle/servo amplifier with Beta I series motors for the ultimate in compact-performance or the top-of-the-line Alpha I series for high-speed and accuracy. FANUC ECC, FSSB fiber optic servo bus and HRV3 servo control ensures performance and reliability.
