AN-014 Using the External RT Addressing

Many MIL-STD-1553 devices determine their RT address from external jumpers or signals. This allows the system designer to include the RT assignment in the connector attached to the unit. Remote terminals used on with MIL-STD-1760 applications must be able to respond with the correct status word and BUSY bit set within 150 milliseconds from power-up, which is often too fast for software to initialize and assign RT addresses. The Condor Engineering QPCI-1553, QPMC-1553, QCP-1553, Q104-1553, Q104-1553-P, and QVME-1553 products support the external RT address feature. This application note describes how to use this feature with each of these products.
