Follow the steps in 9420 Device Manager Fix procedure

This procedure can be used to update the drivers when using Windows and 9420 to clear the question marks within the Device Manager for the Tundra and FPGA.

  1. Install VMISFT-9420 and all SBC drivers from the supplied Driver CD shipped with the SBC as instructed.
  2. Go to Start/Explore/Tools/Folder Options
  3. Select the View tab and set the radio button for "Show hidden files and folders"
  4. Uncheck the radio button for "Hide files extensions for known file types"
  5. Uncheck the radio button for "Hide protected operating system file types"
  6. Click "Apply" then "OK" and exit Windows Explorer.
  7. Right click on "My Computer" from the desktop and select "Properties"
  8. Select the "Hardware" tab and then "Device Manager"
  9. The only devices that should show question marks should be "PCI Bridge Device" (the Tundra Universe) and "Other PCI device" (the Altera FPGA).
  10. Right click on the "PCI bridge device" and select the "Driver" tab.
  11. Select "Update driver" and follow the "Upgrade device driver Wizard" and select "Search for a suitable driver for my device" then "Next"
  12. Select "Specify a location" and browse to "C:/WINNT/INF". If you don’t see the INF folders you did not perform steps 2-6 correctly.
  13. Look within the INF directory and find the file "vmeaxs.inf" and select that file and click "Open"
  14. Finish the driver update wizard as directed.
  15. Right click in the "Other PCI device" and select the "Driver" tab.
  16. Select "Update driver" and follow the "Upgrade device driver Wizard" and select "Search for a suitable driver for my device"
  17. Select "Specify a location" and browse to "C:/WINNT/INF"
  18. Look within the INF directory and find the file "FPGA.inf" and select that file and click "Open"
  19. Finish the driver update wizard as directed.
  20. Close the Device Manager and reboot.
  21. Once the SBC has rebooted, go back into the Device Manager by the same method in step 7. Make sure the Tundra and Altera FPGA drivers have been configured and the question marks are gone.
