SBS Technologies, Inc. Develops K2™ cPCI Board Targeting Telecommunications Applications

SBS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: SBSE) today announced the availability of K2&8482;, a 6U cPCI board targeting high performance telecommunications applications requiring hot-swap, system/non-system slot functionality, and versatile I/O with dual PMC slots. K2 will be available for delivery in late September with VxWorks support. "Most telecom opportunities today demand high performance real-time processing and flexible I/O schemes. K2 delivers both," stated Bret Farnum, General Manager for SBS Embedded PPC Products. "We are integrating multiple PMC modules onto K2 for specific customer requirements: Dual Ethernet, T1/E1, ATM SAR (OC3), and we expect T3/E3 availability in the near future. The new IBM Dual Bridge and Memory Controller combines two chips from previous designs into one, saving board real estate for added functionality." The K2 Compact PCI board is targeted at the communications market where low power and high performance real-time processing is required. Some example applications include BSC's (Base Station Controllers), ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) Network systems, Optical Switches and other telecommunication applications.
