SBS Technologies® (Nasdaq: SBSE) announces the MAXIM 1000 Line, a comprehensive offering of flexible, high-performance PMC ATM adapters with multiple interface options including T1/E1/J1 with IMA support, DS3/E3 and OC-3/STM-1. Ideal for high-end enterprise and edge network elements such as voice over IP gateways, routers, remote access devices, wireless base stations, and VPN/firewall devices, the MAXIM 1000 products are capable of handling a large number of virtual circuits making them well-suited for high capacity OEM WAN applications.
"The MAXIM 1000 product line strengthens SBS Technologies' dominant position in the WAN adapter space by offering ATM connection over a wide range of interfaces," said Dan Moore, President of the SBS Communications Group. "We will continue to provide our customers with broad product offerings from our MAXIM (PMC), ARIES (CPCI) and WANic (PCI) lines, giving OEMs maximum flexibility and scalability for their high-end communications infrastructure devices."
In compliance with ATM Forum specifications UNI 3.1 and TM 4.0, the MAXIM 1000 Line is based upon an advanced ATM Segmentation and Reassembly (ASAR) controller designed to optimize local PCI bus occupancy and maximize performance under short packet conditions. The MAXIM 1000 segments and reassembles AAL0, AAL5 and AAL 3/4 and supports 155 Mbps full duplex operation for protocol data unit (PDU) sizes as small as two cells. In the half duplex mode, the product supports burst rates of 200 Mbps. Each 32-bit PCI 2.1 compliant PMC WAN adapter features front and rear I/O T1/E1/J1 with IMA support, DS3/E3 and OC-3/STM-1 interfaces.
The traffic management co-processor supports Constant Bit Rate (CBR), Variable Bit Rate (VBR), Unspecified Bit Rate (UBR), Available Bit Rate (ABR), Guaranteed Frame Rate (GFR) and Generic Flow Control (GFC). In order to maximize line utilization, the xBR traffic management block automatically schedules each VCC according to user assigned parameters.
Software Support
The MAXIM 1000 Line offers extensive driver support, including Windows NT, Windows 2000, VxWorks, and Linux.
