SBS Technologies Announces New Products at Embedded Systems Conference Spring (Booth #1917)

SBS Technologies, Inc. will announce a series of new product introductions at Embedded Systems Conference Spring (booth 1917) on March 31 to April 2, 1998, in Chicago, IL. Product announcements include the first suite of PC&8226;MIP&8482;-based products, the introduction of the SBS CompactPCI Product Group, Broadcast MEMORY&8482; PCI Node Cards and PCI Shared Memory Cards, and a complete line of industrial-grade rackmount workstations and PC enclosures. "With so many new product offerings, the Embedded Systems Conference is the right venue for us to exhibit our extensive line of embedded computer components," said Steve Cooper, President and Chief Operating Officer of SBS. ìWhether an OEM requires one component or a full complement of computer products, SBS can accommodate their requirements." PC&8226;MIP&8482; Products
SBS will introduce the first suite of PC&8230;MIP-based products and announce its production availability schedule. PC&8226;MIP is the first high-density international mezzanine standard currently under development. Mezzanine modules are small daughter cards mounted on top of a larger main board which often carries a CPU. Mezzanines are used to implement a wide variety of I/O, memory, and interface functions. Mezzanines are particularly popular as a way of adding flexibility and options to VMEbus and embedded processors. In recent years the wide variety of company proprietary mezzanines have given way to two successful mezzanine standards; IndustryPacks&8482; (IP) and M-modules. A key difference between these two existing standards is that M-modules use front-panel I/O while IP modules use a flexible bus-independent I/O structure. Both M-modules and IP modules use 10-year, predominantly 16 bit host interfaces. PC&8226;MIP uses a modern, fast, 32-bit PCI-bus as the host interface. PC&8226;MIP will support either front-panel I/O or bus independent flexible I/O structures. Up to six PC&8226;MIP modules fit on one CompactPCI or VME host board. CompactPCI Product Group
SBS will introduce its new CompactPCI Product Group. A full line of CompactPCI products will be announced, including 3U and 6U 1553 interface boards, 3U ARINC 429 interface boards, 6U telemetry boards, 6U Broadcast MEMORY interface boards, and 3U and 6U Industry Pack Carrier Boards. Broadcast MEMORY&8482; PCI Node Cards and PCI Shared Memory Cards
Two high-performance PCI-to-PCI product lines ñ the Model 2500 Series Enhanced PCI Node Cards and the Model 2590 Series PCI Shared Memory Cards will be exhibited. The Model 2500 Series PCI Node Cards can function in a point-to-point connection or multipoint network as part of SBS Bit 3's Broadcast MEMORY&8482; product line. The Model 2590 PCI Shared Memory Cards support point-to-point functionality only. Both card series have common features: 43M Bytes/sec transfer rate, fiber-optic interface to 650 meters, memory modules in 4 sizes (256K, 512K, 1M and 2M Bytes), and the same Windows© NT Support Software, Model 15-901-1, supporting Intel x86 systems. Industrial-grade rackmount workstation and PC enclosures
A full line of industrial-grade rackmount workstation and PC enclosures from SBS will be showcased. Models exhibited include the 722 enclosure with optional hot swap power supplies and high availability for mission critical file server and telecom applications; the 814WS workstation enclosure with a NEMA 12 front panel and operating shock tested to 20Gs for severe industrial environments; and a new plug-in Pentium II-based system.
