SBS GreenSpring Modular I/O announces Windows NT support for PCI and CompactPCI-based data acquisition systems utilizing IndustryPack mezzanine modules and carrier boards. The software is designed for industrial data acquisition and control applications and interfaces with standard industrial I/O components. Compatible with a wide variety of IndustryPack I/O modules, the Windows NT software package defines a standard application programming interface for several functions of common industrial I/O, including analog, digital, counters and timers, temperature sensors and motion control devices.

The Windows NT drivers are available now for a wide variety of IndustryPack I/O modules and carrier boards. Software and hardware bundles are priced starting at $260.
Features and Benefits
The drivers offer multi-thread protection that ensures data integrity and prevents concurrent access to a hardware device. The software provides a common application programming interface (API)across the same functions and allows transparent software changes when upgrading from one I/O module (such as a 12-bit A/D) to another I/O module (such as a 16-bit A/D). The Windows NT software driver package offers support for CompactPCI, desktop PCI, industrial PCI and ISA architectures through a modular design of dynamic link libraries (DLL) and device drivers. Device driver support for the VME bus will be available in Q3, 1998. The Windows NT DLL currently operates with over 25 Serial I/O, Analog I/O and Digital I/O modules. The drivers are also available for the ATC30, ATC40 and PCI-40 and the CompactPCI line of carrier boards from SBS GreenSpring Modular I/O.
