SBS GreenSpring Modular I/O today announced the availability of PMC-HS Serial. PMC-HS Serial is a new high-speed, quad channel serial PMC module designed for data communications, LAN/WAN networking, military avionics, traffic control, simulation and telecommunications applications. This new module provides a solution that enables the expansion of four channels of high-speed, low-cost serial data communications channels to a single board computer with PMC sites, or to a PMC carrier board. The PMC-HS Serial is a single-wide PMC module with four channels. Each of the four channels is fully programmable for a variety of high performance serial communications protocols, such as asynchronous, monosynch, bisynch, HDLC, SDLC, LAPB, LAPD, ISDN and PPP. Independent channels can be selected as a variety of physical interfaces, such as RS-232, RS-422, EIA-449, EIA-530, or V.35 via software control. No hardware configuration is required. A maximum data rate of 10 Mbit/sec is supported for synchronous protocols and 2 Mbit/sec is supported for asynchronous protocols. VxWorks driver is also available for the PMC-HS Serial.
