GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms’ Erik Udstuen To Speak at Electric Power Research Institute’s Fifth Power Delivery Asset Management Conference, November 4-6 in Dallas

Charlottesville, VA, October 29, 2009    Erik Udstuen, Vice President Software and Services for GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms, a unit of GE Enterprise Solutions, will speak at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) Fifth Power Delivery Asset Management Conference, November 4 – 6, 2009 in Dallas, Texas. The conference addresses issues facing the Electricity Sector including pressure from customers and regulators to maintain or enhance service reliability while controlling or reducing costs, as well as legislation that encourages utilities to develop SmartGrids, implement renewable sources, and distributed resources while trying to squeeze performance at lower cost from aging delivery assets.
Udstuen will be part of discussion that will include executives from GE, CenterPoint Energy, Luminant, EPRI and Innovative Wireless Technologies. The discussion will focus on asset management and Smart Grid, including various critical elements, from hardware such as advanced meter deployment, to wireless monitoring systems, to the people who must operate and maintain utility assets and the tools they need to be successful.
“To make the Smart Grid a reality, utilities need a robust data management and system integration strategy in order to ensure the availability of critical information needed for smarter and faster decision making,” said Udstuen. “In our session we will be discussing the benefits of new approaches to integration and managing the flow of operational and non-operational data across the grid.”
