SBS Technologies, Inc., today announced an extended temperature range 3U CompactPCI processor board based on the 333 MHz AMD K6-2. The cPRO3XT now offers an operating temperature range of -40 to 70 degrees Celsius and a non-operating temperature range of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius.
The cPRO3XT is an extension of the PROTEUS family of embedded computers from SBS Technologies that was designed without excessive overhead to facilitate customization for specific industrial control and automation requirements. It offers processor speeds up to 333 MHz, up to 128 MB of EDO DRAM, 512 KB of Level 2 cache and up to 144 MB of Flash Disk-on-Chip.

cPRO3XT Features
All the functionality of a headless PC/AT motherboard, including keyboard and mouse ports, parallel port, serial ports (COM1/COM2 at TTL level via J2), USB port (J2), floppy and IDE are available on the cPRO3XT. Additional features such as Ethernet are also provided. The cPRO3XT incorporates an Ali Aladdin IV chipset that is completely compatible with industry-standard PC hardware and software.
The cPRO3XT is available with a choice of Socket 7 processors to allow optimum speed selection. Low Power Pentium processors are available at 166MHz and 266MHz. The cPRO3XT also supports AMD K6-2 processors, available for 333MHz operation.
Incorporating 512KB of Synchronous Pipeline-Burst SRAM (PBSRAM) as Level 2 Cache and a system bus clock of 66 MHz, the cPRO3XT cache provides hit rates of 3-1-1-1 for read and write cycles and 3-1-1-1-1-1-1 for back-to-back read and write cycles. The 512KB cache size is optimum for up to 128MB of system memory. The cPRO3XT is available from the factory with up to 128 MB of SDRAM memory.
Software Compatibility
The cPRO3XT is compatible with software written for the IBM PC/AT, with the ability to run the wide variety of off-the-shelf software available for 80x86-based computers.
