HUNTSVILLE, Ala.— June 12 2017 Responding to the accelerating trend towards wider bandwidth multi-channel receivers in modern radar systems, Abaco Systems today announced the FMC134 FMC+ FPGA Mezzanine Card Direct RF Conversion Module. It brings industry-leading ADC performance and density: the card can operate as a 4-channel receiver at 3.2GSPS or a 2-channel receiver at 6.4GSPS. Using 16 of the available 32 high speed JESD204B lanes, the FMC134 is capable of a total maximum transfer rate of 200 Gigabits/second. Unlike some alternative solutions, it is fully compliant with the VITA 57.4 standard, providing customers with the assurance of compatibility and interoperability across different FPGA carriers.

The critical I/O functionality provided by the FMC134 adds further strength and capability to Abaco’s growing mission ready systems offering.

The FMC134 is ideally suited for applications including traditional and bi-static radar; multi-channel radar; digital beamforming; wideband receivers; wireless communication SDR; and signals intelligence receivers.

The FMC134 is built with expandability in mind. It supports FMC stacking, giving customers the ability to take advantage of unused signals for the possibility of up to eight ADC channels on a single FMC site at 3.2GSPS or four channels at 6.4GSPS.

JESD204B devices offer customers significant benefits in terms of low power consumption, high performance and small form factor. However: development timelines can be extended. To address this challenge, Abaco provides the JESD204B core as part of the FMC134 board support package, and this works out of the box when used in combination with an Abaco FPGA carrier card - saving customers extensive integration time and effort.

“The FMC134 extends our leadership in rugged data acquisition solutions and reflects our commitment to bringing the newest technology to our customers with state-of-the-art analog I/O technology combined with the latest high performance COTS standard form factors,” said Mrinal Iyengar, Vice President, Product Management at Abaco Systems. “Pairing the FMC134 with our industry-leading FPGA carrier cards - such as the VP880 or VP868 - gives our customers the platform to solve some of the most difficult challenges in modern DSP systems.”

The FMC134 includes two reference outputs and an external trigger input for multi-board synchronization.
